Edit Well Graphic

I've been writing an ongoing series on grading in Color in the digital newsletter Edit Well. Many of my articles from the series, and others from experts in Final Cut Studio applications, have been collected into the verbosely named book Edit Well: Final Cut Studio Techniques from the Pros.

In August I graded director Kimberley Reed's documentary feature Prodigal Sons, which premiered at the 2008 Telluride Film Festival. It has since screened at the AFI Fest, the 15th Sheffield Doc Fest, the Stars Denver Film Festival, and on the BBC.

That April I color corrected director John Magary's high definition short subject The Second Line, a drama of greed and despair in post-Katrina New Orleans. Shot in Super 16, the source negative was transferred to D5 at Postworks, and later captured as 1080p, 10-bit Uncompressed media for digital grading. It was a finalist for the 2007 Student Academy Awards, and screened at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

I also color corrected director Myna Joseph's short subject, Man. Like The Second Line, this coming-of-age drama was also shot in Super 16, transferred, and ultimately captured as 1080p, 10-bit Uncompressed HD. Man also screened at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
