Color Correction for La Juerga
I color corrected director Michael Hill's high definition short subject La Juerga using Color. It was shot in Super 16, and the negative was transferred to HDCam as a high definition, low-contrast safety transfer. Ultimately, the project was mastered using the DVCPRO HD format, which is what I worked with.
The safety transfer necessitated contrast and color expansion for each shot in the movie. However, many of the scenes were also significantly vignetted to provide a greater impression of evening or night, while others were lightened to give a more obviously midday look. The saturation of key colors, such as the red of the woman's dancing shoes, were enhanced while backgrounds were subdued.
